ACCESS TO LAW LAB

What is the point of law, if the one who needs it the most does not know it exists?

Our Mission

Access to Law Lab (A2LL) is a student-run research initiative that aims to bridge the gap between law and the common man. Law as it currently exists is a product of privilege in all its manifestations, be it the ability to comprehend complex information presented in advanced English, the ability to browse through millions of pieces of information across the internet, and the ability to access the internet, to name some. This does not exist for a vast majority of the Indian population and results in a systemic exclusion of people from the law, something that was originally designed to benefit the people.

In the short term, we aim to use empirical research to produce findings on the ability of the common man to actually access the law and simplify and translate laws into digestible information that can help people understand the law better. In the long run, we hope to build further upon these initiatives through collaborations with NGOs to conduct workshops, seminars, and increase the dissemination of legal and accurate information. As students of law, we chose this profession in the hopes of creating an impact, and this is our small way to create an impact in a space that truly matters, because what is the point of law if the one who needs it the most does not know it exists?
